On Saturday night, the Battle of Alberta was raging on in Calgary when Oilers forward Evander Kane slashed Flames Dryden hunt across the hands. It was revealed earlier this afternoon that the NHL department of player safety fined Kane the maximum amount of $5000.
The penalty was called at the beginning of the second period at 3:46. This was a retaliatory slash that was completely unnecessary which ended up costing the Oilers a goal as Yegor Sharangovich scored a power play goal at 3:57 which cut the lead to 2-1.
It's clear that Perry was quite upset with the mistake that was made which led him to turn his ire towards Kane as it appeared to be a lazy play.
In the end, the Oilers won the game 4-2 and are in a battle with the Vancouver Canucks for first in the Pacific division. They have one game in hand and will set themselves on a collision course for next Saturday as both teams will face off in a key matchup.
