Just in, the Edmonton Oilers have recalled goaltender Jack Campbell from the AHL's Bakersfield Condors, following their season elimination. Campbell will rejoin the Oilers for the remainder of the season.

Alongside Campbell, defenseman Philip Broberg has also been called up. While it's unlikely that either will see game action unless there are significant injuries, their presence has been a constant in the Oilers' locker room over the past two years. They are considered key components of the team's dynamics and will primarily boost the intensity at practice sessions as extras.

Campbell's return to Edmonton comes as a surprise. In only the second year of his five-year, $25 million contract, he was demoted earlier this season after struggling significantly in the net for a team with championship aspirations. Although he has recently regained form in the AHL, the confidence in him as the Oilers' goaltender has notably dwindled.

It seems increasingly likely that the Oilers will part ways with Campbell soon, possibly through a trade or a buyout, as they look to reshape their roster for future success.
