Corey Perry is a veteran presence on the Edmonton Oilers and he certainly has the go-ahead to speak out when the team is playing poorly.

In the first game of the season, the Oilers lost to the Winnipeg Jets by a score of 6-0. It was an embarrassing loss that a lot of fans simply could not fathom. However, against the Chicago Blackhawks, they laid yet another stinker. They lost 5-2 and it was just an overall bad night for a team that made it to the Stanley Cup Finals last season.
After that game, Corey Perry had a lot to say about his team and what is going wrong right now. As he explained, it has to do with speed. He also wants everyone to start holding themselves accountable and that excuses have no place on this team right now.

" We can be a lot better... we're slow with the puck right now... we're not moving up the ice quick enough... We can make all the excuses in the world. Everybody's gotta look themselves in the mirror. It's frustrating."

Unfortunately for Perry, these comments didn't inspire much of anything. Last night, the Oilers played the Calgary Flames in the battle of Alberta and lost by a score of 4-1. It was another bad loss that is inexcusable at this point in the season. The Oilers are now 0-3 to start the year. They have gotten horrible goaltending and their offense is completely stagnant. One has to wonder what is wrong with the team right now.
