Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane had a slow-ish start to the season but after seven games currently has two goals and three assists for a total of five points.

The Red Wings are, indeed, above .500 which is good news for the club. However, there are some out there who are worried about the team's abilities in terms of depth and goaltending. This is a team that has made it very clear that it would like to make it to the post season. However, that is going to end up being a whole lot easier said than done.

If the Red Wings make it happen, there a lot of people are going to be happy. That said, Derek Lalone is tasked with making some big adjustments to make sure his team is playing to a high standard. In fact, one of those decisions has involved demoting Kane to the second line.

As for who is taking the top-line spot, it is now Alex Debrincat. This is an interesting decision although not one that was probably taken lightly. Moreover, these are the choices and adjustments that happen over the course of an entire season. We could very well see Lalonde change course if this change does not go well.

Interestingly enough, Kane has been through some trade rumors as of late. Some believe that Kane will dominate the rumor mill this season, particularly if the Red Wings start to really struggle down the stretch.
