Elliotte Friedman unveils Patrick Kane's future plans for free agency
In a recent breakdown by NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, there's new clarity on what might be next for Patrick Kane. The seasoned winger appears set on finding a stable team environment after bouncing around the league for the last few seasons.
But, you know, it was a bit of a different tone, which surprised me a bit. What that says to me and I understand this from his point of view, is that look, Chicago his whole career, and half year, or a quarter of a year last year with the Rangers. And now this year with Detroit.
He strikes me as a guy who wants the revolving door to stop. He wants to go to one place and stay in one place for a little bit of time.
Friedman, who has been deeply immersed in NHL offseason dynamics, highlighted that Kane's current stint with the Detroit Red Wings might be coming to an end. Despite the Red Wings appreciating Kane's talents, they seem hesitant to offer the long-term commitment he's seeking.
He's not going to give Kane four and five years. I don't think Kane expects that. But what it says to me is that Yzerman probably doesn't want to give as much term as Kane would like. And so we'll see how that plays out and Yzerman supposed to talk
From what Friedman has gathered, it looks like Kane is gearing up for another round of free agency. Fortunately for him, his recovery from last year's hip surgery has been solid, and his performance this season was strong, which should make him an attractive option for several teams looking to bolster their lineup.
