Colorado Avalanche goalie Alexander Georgiev had a tough night against the Nashville Predators, and he might face consequences from the NHL.

Early in the second period, the Predators netted their fourth goal, taking a 4-2 lead. Frustrated, Georgiev grabbed the puck from the net and flung it over the glass into the crowd.

The refs spotted it right away, giving Georgiev a two-minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Avalanche coach Jared Bednar then decided to pull him from the game, replacing him with Justus Annunen.

"Alex Georgiev gets a 2-min for unsportsmanlike and then the hook from his coach 🥴"

Such incidents are rare, but the NHL has a strict policy against objects being thrown into the crowd, whether it's a puck, stick, or any other equipment.

One of the most memorable instances occurred over 20 years ago, in January 2004, when Toronto Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin tossed his stick into the stands and got suspended for one game.

After Georgiev left the game, the Avalanche mounted a comeback, scoring five consecutive goals. Nathan MacKinnon led the charge with a four-point game, as Colorado secured a 7-4 victory over the Nashville Predators.
