Cake Makar Receives Harsh Punishment Form The IIHF Following WJC Scandal
Cale Makar, the standout defenseman, could miss out on the 2026 Olympics due to circumstances beyond his control.
Potential Ban Looms for Makar in 2026 Olympics
In an unexpected development, it's been decided that members of the 2018 WJC Team Canada won't be able to represent the country in upcoming events, despite their non-involvement in the scandal.
«So Makar may not play in the 2026 Olympics cuz of the ongoing criminal investigation»
"Pending the completion of the appeal process, all players from the 2018 National Junior Team remain suspended by Hockey Canada, and are ineligible to play, coach, officiate or volunteer with Hockey Canada-sanctioned programs."
Yet, there's optimism that players like Makar could regain eligibility once the court case concludes.
With the Olympics just two years away, a definitive answer is unlikely in the near future.
