Martin Pospisil Receives Multi-Game Suspension After Brutal Check From Behind
The NHL's Department of Player Safety has handed down a three-game suspension to Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospisil for a dangerous hit on Vince Dunn, defenceman for the Seattle Kraken.
This incident occurred in the closing minutes of Monday night's game at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Dunn was retrieving a puck behind his team's net, facing away from the play, when Pospisil delivered a forceful hit from behind, sending Dunn hard into the boards. Dunn had to leave the game due to the injury.
Pospisil was penalized with a major penalty for boarding, which was confirmed after a review, leading to his ejection from the game with a game misconduct penalty.
The hit didn't go unnoticed, with Kraken's coach Dave Hakstol criticizing it as «garbage» after his team clinched a 4-2 win. Dunn was notably absent from the game against the Winnipeg Jets the following day.
This marks Pospisil's first suspension in the NHL. Over 45 games this season, he has accumulated 15 points and 72 penalty minutes.
