Last week, news leaked that the Boston Bruins were interested in a potential trade with the Calgary Flames for centerman Elias Lindholm. The Bruins are looking to address their lack of depth at center after the retirement of Patrice Bergeron and the uncertain future of David Krejci, who became a free agent on Canada Day and hasn't provided an update on potential retirement.
Bad news for the Bruins as they reportedly aren't the only team interested in trading for the 28-year-old Lindholm. According to reports the Washington Capitals are also linked to Lindholm.
The Bruins, however, might not be the only club to consider pursuing Lindholm. THN Washington's Sammi Silber last week suggested his two-way play and leadership would make him a good addition to a club like the Washington Capitals that needs a reliable top-six center." The Hockey News reported.
It was revealed earlier this summer that Lindholm, who is set to become a free agent next summer, was leaning towards not re-signing with Calgary and instead would test the open market next year.
Lindholm's durability has been important for the Flames. Lindholm has only missed 2 games over the last 3 seasons. In 80 games last season, the Swedish forward posted 64 points (22 goals, 42 assists), 14 penalty minutes and was a +6.
