Calgary Flames Place 30 Year-Old Forward On Waivers
On Monday afternoon, the Calgary Flames made a move on the waiver wire, with forward Kevin Rooney being the sole player in the mix.
Chris Johnston of TSN reports,
"Placed on NHL waivers today: Kevin Rooney (CGY)."
Rooney, aged 30, has been sidelined for the entire 2023-24 season following shoulder surgery in early October. His shoulder injury occurred during a practice session with the Flames in training camp.
During the previous season, the native of Canton, Massachusetts, split his time between the Flames and their AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers. Rooney notched one assist in 17 games with the Flames, while also recording 17 points in 51 AHL games.
If Rooney successfully clears waivers on Tuesday, his destination will be the AHL's Calgary Wranglers. There, he'll kickstart his on-ice activities, gearing up for a return to game action.
