The Boston Bruins are on the hunt for a significant trade as the March 8 deadline approaches, and it seems a lapse in discipline might be the tipping point for one of their veterans.

Bruins Considering Moving Derek Forbort Following Recent Incident

Derek Forbort, the Bruins experienced defenseman, found himself in hot water last week for missing a team meeting, a move that didn't go unnoticed.

"#Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort overslept in Seattle. 'It's on me,' he said. His first call was from Jake DeBrusk (who missed a meeting earlier this season in LA) with the message 'you'll get through this,' Forbort said with a smile following Thursday's morning skate."

Jake DeBrusk, who previously faced a similar situation, reached out with words of encouragement. However, Bruins beat writer Jimmy Murphy suggests this incident, combined with Forbort's recent on-ice performance, could lead to a trade.

«Given his recent play and now this, I wouldn't be surprised to see Forbort on a new team by the March 8, 3 p.m. ET NHL Trade Deadline.»

Murphy hints that Forbort's time with the Bruins may be winding down, especially with the team rumored to be eyeing Calgary's Noah Hanifin. Forbort, a pending unrestricted free agent, might just fit as part of a deal to balance the finances. As the deadline looms, it looks increasingly likely that Forbort could be donning a new jersey.
