The Boston Bruins have encountered a significant challenge to their defense as they push through their first-round 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Their troubles compounded last night with not only a loss in Game 2 but also the loss of defenseman Andrew Peeke, who exited the game in the second period due to an injury.
Coach Jim Montgomery has confirmed that Peeke will miss the upcoming games in Toronto, dealing a blow to the team's defensive lineup.
"Boston coach Jim Montgomery said Andrew Peeke is out week-to-week with injury suffered in Game 2."
Peeke, who has been a key player on the Bruins' third defensive pairing alongside Kevin Shattenkirk, suffered a hand injury while blocking a shot. This unfortunate turn of events has sidelined him on a week-to-week basis, making his return in this series unlikely.
"It is a tough blow, he's been really good for us."
With Peeke out, Derek Forbort, who has been sidelined since early March with an injury of his own, will accompany the team to Toronto. However, his chances of hitting the ice for Game 3 remain slim.
"Parker Wotherspoon is first in line to replace Andrew Peeke. Mason Lohrei is up. Derek Forbort is not a likely Game 3 option.»
This situation leaves the Bruins in a tough spot as they look to adjust their defense without two of their regular players.
