The Arizona Coyotes managed to dodge yet another setback last night when goaltender Connor Ingram exited the game early due to an unfortunate incident.

Ingram was inadvertently high-sticked by Calgary Flames forward Matthew Coronato as he skated past the net, causing the blade to slip through Ingram's mask and poke him in the eye.

In obvious distress, Ingram clutched his face and doubled over in pain, prompting an immediate stoppage in play. He swiftly left the ice with the assistance of team trainers and headed down the tunnel for medical attention.

Weird play. Matt Coronato's stick goes through the eye cut out in Connor Ingram's mask and hits him in the face.

The referees convened to review the incident but did not issue a penalty, indicating that none had clearly seen the high stick. This forced the Coyotes to bring in backup goalie Karel Vajmelka, who ironically would only record three seconds of ice time before the team opted to pull the goalie for an extra attacker at the ensuing faceoff.

Connor Ingram took a high stick to the head. No penalty.

He's going to the room.

Karel Vejmelka comes in with 2:40 left.

Despite the chaotic moment, the Flames managed to clinch a 6-5 victory. The Coyotes have been tight-lipped about Ingram's condition, having gone dark on social media, which suggests the injury may not be as severe as initially feared otherwise, updates would likely be circulating from NHL insiders.

Ingram, who has two years remaining on his contract with an annual cap hit just shy of $2 million, is a crucial part of the team's lineup.
