NHL Head Coach Receives Massive Fine After Altercation With Officials
Anaheim Ducks head coach Greg Cronin found himself in hot water after being ejected from a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier this week due to unsportsmanlike conduct.
The incident occurred when a goal by the Ducks was overturned for goalie interference. On Friday, Cronin was hit with a $25,000 fine for what the league termed as "unprofessional conduct directed at the officials."
The ejection and subsequent fine resulted from Cronin's reaction to the overturned goal. Despite challenging the call, video review upheld the no-goal decision, prompting Cronin's outburst. He received a two-minute bench minor for unsportsmanlike conduct in addition to the ejection.
The Ducks overcame these setbacks and managed to win the game 4-3 without Cronin's presence, thanks to assistant coaches Brent Thompson and David Rook who stayed behind the bench.
