Mitch Marner takes major step towards being traded
According to a reliable source, it appears that superstar Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs are about to part ways. Marner has turned in his list of trades.
Forward Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs haven't gotten along for a while. There has been a noticeable tension since the start of the off-season, and there have been whispers that many would enjoy getting away from it all. It seems like he is making the initial move to turn that become a reality.
Though it doesn't appear that the list has been made public, Marner reportedly filed his trade list, which includes the nine teams he would be prepared to waive his no trade clause to join. This information comes from The Hockey News.
Up until now, Marner, 27, has spent his whole playing career with the Maple Leafs. The point-producing forward skated in 69 games the previous season, scoring 85 points overall—26 goals and 59 assists.
Although it's obvious that Marner has lost the support of the Toronto media and fan base, the Leafs would be better off being patient if they truly wanted to move the young forward in order to ensure they received a fair return.
There have been varying rumors regarding Marner's and his camp's plans for the last year of his current contract, so we'll need to keep a watch on this as it moves forward.
