NHL names Conn Smythe Trophy winner after win the Stanley Cup
Following a fiercely contested Game 7, the NHL formally awarded the Stanley Cup and announced the recipient of the Conn Smythe Trophy for this year.
The Florida Panthers held a 2-1 lead over the Edmonton Oilers going into the third period. The Panthers were trying to avoid blowing another big lead after the Oilers rallied to tie the series after the Panthers had led it 3-0. It appeared that both sides would be difficult to defeat because both goalies were playing at their best.
Midway through the third period, Sergei Bobrovsky, having finally found his game once again, stopped a flurry of Oilers chances.
Despite a strong push the Oilers were not able to comeback and the Florida Panthers won this year's Stanley Cup.
After crowning this year's Stanley Cup Champion the league also named this year's Conn Smythe Trophy winner for the playoffs MVP. This year's recipient of the award is none other than
