Vladimir Tarasenko and family suffer tragic loss
Just weeks after celebrating his second Stanley Cup victory, this time with the Florida Panthers, tragedy has struck the family of Vladimir Tarasenko.
Reports from Russia confirm that Andrei Tarasenko, a legendary player and coach, and father of Vladimir, has passed away at the age of 55.
The news was verified by Sport24.ru and several other Russian media outlets.
"Andrei Tarasenko is a native of Novosibirsk. In his youth, he was a player for the local SKA, and then for many years he defended the colors of Yaroslavl Torpedo and Togliatti Lada, where he was recognized as the top scorer and most valuable player of the Russian championship. In the 2001/2002 season, Tarasenko returned to his hometown and helped Sibir reach the Super League, scoring 75 points in 67 matches."
Following a successful playing career, Andrei Tarasenko joined the coaching staff of the KHL's Sibir Novosibirsk, where he has served for several years. No cause of death has been reported.

I offer my deepest condolences to Vladimir and Valentin Tarasenko, all the relatives and friends of Andrei Vladimirovich, the hockey club Sibir, and all Novosibirsk fans." - Roman Rotenberg, Championat.com After winning the Stanley Cup with Florida, Vladimir Tarasenko signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract with the Detroit Red Wings. His first Stanley Cup victory came as a member of the St. Louis Blues in 2019.
