NHL finally does something smart with its superstars
However, if there is one thing that the NHL has struggled with over the years, it is promoting its superstars. The hockey guard has always promoted team over individuality. It is the Don Cherry mentality that simply does not work in 2024. This kind of thinking has held the league back for years. Sure, being a team guy is important. But from a marketing perspective, fans need to know who the best players are.
Well, it seems like the NHL is finally getting that message. They just put out a new advertisement featuring some of their biggest superstars. It is meant to be a play on the stereotype that the young kids today don't work hard. McDavid, Bedard, and Crosby all make appearances in the video.
This is the type of advertisement that will reach people who may not already tune into the game of hockey. Moreover, it will help convince some fans who perhaps abandoned watching the game because they didn't really know of any players anymore.
Whatever the case may be, it remains clear that the league is in a good place right now. Some incredible talents are beginning to take over, and there are still some veterans like Sidney Crosby and
Alexander Ovechkin to keep everyone grounded. You have to love it.
