Once more, the Carolina Hurricanes find themselves looking in from the outside. The team is now again thinking about their future following their elimination from the second round. The organization has given GM Don Waddell permission to talk to other teams about employment, according to information that surfaced yesterday.
The team seems to be heading in a different path. A trade request from teenage forward Martin Necas is expected as part of that direction. Necas is reportedly dissatisfied with his deployment to Carolina and is looking for a chance to organize a team that would enable him to play on the first line.
According to David Pagnotta, 6 teams have contacted the Hurricanes about a potential trade for Necas.
Necas has scored 24 goals and dished out 29 assists for 53 points in 77 games this season. Necas has appeared in 362 games throughout his career, all with Carolina, where he has 97 goals and 146 assists.
Necas would fit right in with any of these squads. That being said, there are still doubts about his ability to compete for the kind of position he wants to play. Necas, who is a restricted free agent this summer, is supposedly expecting for a large salary in exchange for a new contract.
