Hamilton might be getting a professional hockey team sooner than you think

Over the years, there have been rumors of potential NHL expansion to Hamilton. However, the city simply is not big enough for the league to ever consider going there. That said, the city is big enough for an American Hockey League team. For years, the Hamilton Bulldogs were the AHL affiliate for the Montreal Canadiens. However, in 2015, they transitioned into an OHL team. They then relocated and the city has been left yearning for a franchise.

According to Puck Empire, they may actually get their wish a lot sooner than you may think. It seems like the AHL is gearing up to bring a team back to Hamilton. In fact, an announcement could come within the next few months or so.

It remains to be seen whether or not the team would embrace a new identity or become the Bulldogs again. Whatever the case may be, this is an exciting proposition for all of the hockey fans out there in Hamilton. You got to figure that they deserve something like this after all of the heartbreak they have gone through lately.

Only time will tell whether or not the announcement actually comes or not. There is a lot that goes into this kind of thing, and there are certainly no guarantees. Either way, it should be a whole lot of fun to watch this go down. We are hoping that all of the deserving fans out in Hamilton finally get their wish.
