Oskar Steen Returns to Sweden, Signs Five-Year Deal with Färjestad

For many professional hockey players, pursuing their dream often means moving far away from home, particularly for those born in Europe with aspirations of playing in the National Hockey League. This has been the journey for 26-year-old Oskar Steen, who has played 60 NHL games with the Boston Bruins. However, Steen has now decided to return to his roots, signing a five-year contract with Färjestad of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).
Steen, a 5'10" right-shooting center, has contributed 7 goals and 16 assists for 23 points during his time with the Bruins. His decision to sign with Färjestad signifies a desire to be closer to home, a move that resonates deeply with his personal and family life.
"Many times in the career of a professional hockey player they are asked to move far away from home to live out their dream, especially if they're born in Europe and they have aspirations of playing in the National Hockey League. This circumstance has come to fruition for twenty-six-year-old Oskar Steen, a veteran of sixty NHL games played with the Boston Bruins. The 5'10 inch right shooting centre who skated in sixty games for the Bruins contributing 7 goals along with 16 assists for 23 points has decided to come home, signing a five-year contract with Färjestads of the SHL."
In signing with Färjestad, Steen has chosen a familiar environment that feels close to his heart. The five-year contract indicates the team's confidence in offering him a long-term opportunity, and it also highlights Steen's decision to prioritize what is best for himself and his loved ones.
Previously, Steen played 155 games with Färjestad, where he recorded 23 goals and 30 assists, along with 77 penalty minutes. This return to Färjestad marks a significant chapter in Steen's career, allowing him to continue playing the sport he loves while being surrounded by the comfort and familiarity of home.
