Heading into game six of the Western Conference final, the Edmonton Oilers lead the Dallas Stars three games to two. However, don't tell Connor McDavid that because McJesus hasn't bothered to slow down, enjoying the fact that on Sunday night, he and the Oilers could secure their first-ever trip to the Stanley Cup final.
With the Oilers applying pressure less than five minutes into the first frame, McDavid made a few Dallas Stars look silly by walking in and then roofed a backhand past Stars goalie Jake Oettinger to put the score 1-0.
Although the goal was significant in and of itself, it was nothing compared to how lovely it was. The goal is arguably the best McDavid has ever scored in the playoffs, according to all assessments.
Even though the game is still early, this might be a sign of things to come this evening. If so, the Oilers should plan a first-class trip straight to the Stanley Cup final in 20232024.
