The San Jose Sharks franchise is putting a lot on the kid's shoulders. He is essentially being tasked with trying to turn this franchise around after years of mediocrity and straight-up horrible play. Overall, it is not going to be easy for him to do that. Although, his NHL Debut was one to remember as he scored a goal and even notched an assist.
Unfortunately, he ended up suffering an injury in his first game, which is not so good. On Friday, it was reported by Sportsnet that he was being evaluated for a lower-body injury. This morning, Elliotte Friedman confirmed that Celebrini has been placed on the injured reserve.
He is expected to be out for a minimum of a week. Overall, this is not ideal considering this is the kid's rookie season and fans want to see him to do well. However, it is clear that the injury is not all that serious. The Sharks want to be cautious with him, which is probably for the best given it is still very early in his career.
The last thing you want to see is a promising career ruined by too many injuries early on. We have seen it happen in the past, and we do not want to see that again.
