The New York Rangers' Jacob Trouba will be disciplined by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for an elbow on Evan Rodrigues that was deemed a minor infraction.

In game three of the Eastern Conference Final of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Florida Panthers player Evan Rodrigues was clearly elbowed by New York Rangers player Jacob Trouba. Trouba was fined for the play. That being said, since it is a fine rather than a suspension, it is not the kind of penalty that many will be seeking.

"NY Rangers' Jacob Trouba has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for elbowing Florida's Evan Rodrigues."

In game three, Rodrigues made an attempt to deke around Trouba in the Rangers end, giving Trouba more space than he desired between them. Trouba reached out and gave Rodrigues a face-punching elbow. Social media users have been debating the hit and whether or not the play should have resulted in a serious penalty.
