Islanders rookie Jack MacLean goes toe-to-toe with Stefan Noesen
In a heated matchup without a score in the first period, Carolina Hurricanes forward Stefan Noesen decided to spark his team by dropping the gloves with New York Islanders rookie Kyle MacLean. Noesen, a seasoned veteran, seemed intent on swinging the momentum Carolina's way through the confrontation, which he managed to end quite decisively.
As the game progressed, the Islanders held a 2-0 lead entering the second period, despite the efforts from the Hurricanes to rally back.
Noesen's scuffle with MacLean wasn't the only physical play catching the fans eyes. Earlier, a thunderous check from Jesperi Kotkaniemi sent Islanders Cal Clutterbuck's helmet flyinga moment that certainly turned heads.
With the Hurricanes looking to even the series at 1-1, Noesen's effort to inject some intensity into his team was clear. He's hoping his actions on the ice can help shift the series' momentum in Carolina's favor.
