Two Heavyweights drop the gloves for a major league tilt
When two teams hate each other it doesn't matter if it's preseason, regular season or the playoffs. That hate shared between the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild is always just seconds away from bubbling to the surface and last night it reached a boiling point. The two teams faced off last night in a very chippy game, that felt different almost right off the bat.
Halfway through the 3rd period, and with the Wild out to a comfortable lead, Jamie Benn and Pat Maroon decided to drop the gloves. These are two big guys who have fought each other in the past. Both players landed several good punches before the two are separated by officials.
Fans were reportedly loving the hate between the two teams, with one of them even dumping popcorn on Benn while he was in the penalty box.
"A fan just threw popcorn at Jamie Benn in the penalty box and now he's screaming at the fans. This is turning ugly." Michael Russo
On the very next faceoff, they were at it again, with Brandon Duhaime going after Mason Marchment.
Minnesota won the game 4-0.
