Winnipeg Jets Prospect Faces Suspension For An Extremely Dangerous Hit
Elias Salomonsson, a second-round pick for the Winnipeg Jets, had a brief stint in the opening game of the World Junior Hockey Championships. Unfortunately, he was ejected just 25 seconds into the Sweden versus Latvia matchup due to a hit.
There's not much room for debate here. Salomonsson had ample time to recognize that he was about to hit someone square in the back, and yet, he went through with it.
After a review of the initial five-minute penalty, officials deemed it appropriate, leading to Salomonsson's early exit. He might even be fortunate to avoid a suspension for the hit. The 19-year-old defenseman currently plays for Skelleftea in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).
