NHL Player Safety Summons Tom Wilson For In Person Hearing For High Stick Incident
The NHL's Department of Player Safety has reached a decision on Tom Wilson's suspension after a high-sticking incident involving Noah Gregor of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
During a recent game between the Washington Capitals and the Toronto Maple Leafs, Wilson struck Gregor in the face with his stick, prompting action from the league.
Wilson has been summoned for an in-person hearing, indicating a likely suspension of five games or more.
According to Elliotte Friedman, this opens the possibility of a longer suspension for Wilson.
Given Wilson's history of similar incidents, this decision isn't surprising. The league hopes that a longer suspension will encourage him to play more cautiously in the future and avoid injuring other players.
