Capitals Sonny Milano Makes His Bid For Goal Of The Year With An Insane Move
Prepare for this one to take over the highlight reels and stake its claim for the NHL's Goal of the Year. From the second the puck hits the ice, it's clear you're witnessing something special.
In a matchup that saw the Carolina Hurricanes defending a zone faceoff against the Washington Capitals, Dylan Strome and Sonny Milano orchestrated a goal that was nothing short of magical.
Strome, with a slick move, nudged the puck through his opponent's legs right off the faceoff. He then circled the competitor with ease and delivered a jaw-dropping, no-look pass behind his back directly to Milano.
Milano, with a keen sense of timing, lofted the puck mid-air with his stick, then executed a second, precise tap that sent it sailing over the shoulder of the Canes' goalie, Pyotr Kochetkov.
This goal notched Milano's second of the evening. The 27-year-old forward, who struggled to secure a contract until the Capitals stepped in on October 18, 2023, has since been on fire, tallying 12 goals and totaling 19 points over 38 games this season.
