Vancouver Canucks Rookie Marked A Historical Moment In NHL History
Yesterday marked a historic moment for Vancouver Canucks rookie Arshdeep Bains as he stepped onto the NHL ice for the first time.
In his NHL debut, Bains etched his name in the record books, becoming the fourth Punjabi player in NHL history.
"Arshdeep Bains takes the ice for the Vancouver Canucks, becoming the fourth Punjabi player to ever play in the NHL."
"Looks like Arshdeep Bains will make his @nhl debut tonight. He'll be only the 4th #Punjabi do this:
Robin Bawa - Oct 8, 1989
Manny Malhotra - Oct 10, 1998
Jujhar Khaira - Nov 18, 2015
This doesn't happen often. Proud of our community. Congrats to Bains Fam and all #Hockey fans!"
Despite going undrafted in previous years, Bains signed with his hometown Vancouver Canucks in the offseason. He showcased his skills last year in the AHL with the Abbotsford Canucks and carried that momentum into this season, tallying 39 points in 42 games.
Though he's yet to record his first NHL point, at just 23 years old, Bains undoubtedly has a bright future ahead of him in the NHL.
