It looks like Brad Treliving may have identified the ideal replacement for the forward help they may have been searching for this summer, ideally someone to play in the middle of the six.
With the free agent market opening in eleven days, Nick Kypreos reports that the Toronto Maple Leafs could be interested in pending unrestricted free agent forward Jake DeBrusk.
In addition to Kypreos' report, Nick Alberga of The Leafs Nation says that over the weekend, he hear that there is mutual interest between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Jake DeBrusk.
DeBrusk, 27, has been a pain in the Leafs' behind during three series' against them in the Stanley Cup Playoffs - 2018, 2019 and 2024. According to StatMuse, Jake DeBrusk has recorded 14 points (nine goals, five assists) in 21 career playoff games against the Maple Leafs. His biggest playoff game against Toronto came in Game 7 of their first round matchup in 2018 where he scored twice as Boston won the series 4-3.
With Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi wanting to return to Toronto for the 202425 season, Brad Treliving has his hands full right now, but the Maple Leafs are still considering their options and determining what is best for the team's long-term prospects. Should Bertuzzi, Domi, or both, become available as free agents on July 1st, it wouldn't be shocking in the slightest if DeBrusk signs a contract with the Maple Leafs.
