Fans were hopeful that this would be the year in which the illnesses stop. After all, with a new head coach, perhaps all of the bad omens were expelled. Well, as it turns out this is actually not the case whatsoever. Instead, the illnesses continue to be a literal plague to the franchise.
It was revealed earlier this week that John Tavares wasn't feeling so well. However, he is back at practice, much to the delight of fans. As for William Nylander, he has now caught the bug and according to Craig Berube, he could very well be out of the lineup for tonight's game against the Los Angeles Kings. Needless to say, not what the Leafs fans wanted to hear.
It will be interesting to see what the next few days are like for the team. We're sure Berube will be hoping and praying that none of his other players end up getting sick. The last thing the Leafs need right now is Matthews getting ill and then he misses some time.
Hopefully, everyone on the team is able to get themselves right during this upcoming stretch. It is always difficult to battle illness, especially when you are trying to be a high-level athlete. We're sure it won't last long.
