Sheldon Keefe confirms William Nylander's status ahead of game four
William Nylander was notably absent from the first three games of the Maple Leafs' first-round series against the Boston Bruins, leaving fans and pundits alike wondering if and when he would hit the ice. Today, it was confirmed that Nylander will indeed return to the lineup for the game 4, as reported by Chris Johnston and confirmed by Sheldon Keefe.
Though the reason for Nylander's absence wasn't disclosed, there were speculations ranging from migraines to a possible concussion sustained in the final game of the regular season.
Nylander's return will require some adjustments from Keefe and his coaching team, but it's expected to inject some much-needed energy into a lineup that has struggled to find the back of the net, tallying only six goals across three games.
While Nylander didn't lead the team in points this season, his consistent performance throughout the 82-game regular season has been noteworthy. The hope is that his comeback will address some of the shortcomings the Leafs have faced in the past week.
