Auston Matthews is now the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs and coming into training camp, there has been a lot riding on Matthews and what the Leafs can accomplish this season.

Today, the team was practicing and Matthews was on the ice to start. However, according to Mark Masters, Matthews ended up leaving during the middle of the session and there were rumbling as to what may have happened. Of course, speculation seems to run rampant everywhere these days, especially as it pertains to one of the best players in the entire NHL.
Craig Berube confirmed the worst following practice as he revealed that Matthews was suffering from some sort of upper body ailment. However, it was not made clear what that ailment was and whether or not it would have any adverse effects on Matthews' ability to practice and play moving forward.
Given the fact that he was able to get off of the ice under his own power and seemed to be doing decently well, it can be assumed that this was just a precautionary measure. However, that does not mean fans aren't at least a little bit worried. After all, that is there franchise player.
Hopefully, everything with Matthews is okay and we find out that there were no issues with him. Of course, those details will likely be out soon, and we will make sure to report them as quickly as possible.
