The Maple Leafs Make Their Statement Clear On How They'll React From Now On
Regardless of intent, the Toronto Maple Leafs' lack of response to Timothy Liljegren's injury following his tangle with Brad Marchand raised questions about their toughness.
In the aftermath of Liljegren's misfortune, the Leafs received criticism for not standing up for their fallen teammate. Ryan Reaves was one of the few who reacted, while Tyler Bertuzzi's response was seen as less than serious.
This issue hasn't gone unnoticed within the Leafs' locker room, with Reaves confirming that the matter was discussed, and players understand the expectations.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe, visibly displeased, expressed his dissatisfaction, saying,
"I hated everything about it."
As for Bertuzzi, he declined to provide an explanation for his reaction, stating,
"People can perceive that however they want. I'm not going to explain myself."
The next matchup between these two teams on December 2nd will reveal whether there's a shift in approach.
