Seattle Krakens Star Player Snaps After A Brutal Missed Call Cost Them The Game
Some players are usually cool-headed, but when they lose it, it's quite a show. That's what went down last night for Oliver Bjorkstrand of the Seattle Kraken. A simple overtime game winner was all it took to set him off.
Tied at 4-4 late in overtime, Jack Eichel of the Golden Knights netted the winning goal with an alley-oop from Alex Pietrangelo.
While it seemed like a clean goal, another angle suggests why Bjorkstrand was fuming.
"Oliver Bjorkstrand, probably the most mild-mannered Kraken player, smashed his stick after the OT loss tonight.»
From a different view, it looks like Bjorkstrand's stick was being held by a trailing Vegas player as he tried to backcheck. Whether he could have stopped Eichel or not is unclear, but it's obvious the ref missed a crucial call.
After the game, Bjorkstrand couldn't hold back his frustration and let the referees know it. Whether the league will take action remains to be seen, given their strict stance on criticizing officials.
"Frustration is palpable Oliver Bjorkstrand clapped' for Vegas, then chucked his stick across the ice #Seakraken»
