Seattle Krakens Release Update Regarding Jordan Eberle's Injury
A practice mishap dealt a blow to the Seattle Kraken as key forward Jordan Eberle found himself sidelined.
During Wednesday's practice, Eberle took an unfortunate hit when a puck stepped on by Jaden Schwartz caused his skate blade to accidentally cut Eberle's leg.
According to head coach Dave Hakstol, Eberle is considered day-to-day after undergoing an MRI and spending time in the hospital. GM Ron Francis noted that, fortunately, the injury near the quad muscle didn't result in serious tendon damage.
In response to Eberle's injury, the Kraken had to call up Coachella Valley Firebirds forwards Shane Wright and Ryan Winterton.
The timing of Eberle's injury, coinciding with Adam Johnson's death in the EIHL, has raised serious questions about safety in hockey culture.
Eberle, who has accumulated 4 points in 13 games this season, adds to the challenges faced by the Kraken as they grapple with a slow start. The team will look to regroup and compensate for the absence of their key forward.
