In a recent development, the Seattle Kraken find themselves entangled in a lawsuit over the design of their latest jerseys.

Legal Action Against Kraken for Winter Classic Jersey Design

The Seattle Kraken is facing a lawsuit accusing them of violating trademark law. The Winter Classic jersey, in particular, has come under scrutiny for featuring a red 'S' that closely resembles the one on the Seattle Metropolitan jersey. The lawsuit has been filed by Paul Kim.
NEW from @GeoffBakerTIMES: A lawsuit filed against the Kraken's ownership in U.S. District Court alleges that the Kraken violated trademark rights in the design of their NHL Winter Classic jerseys.
While Winter Classic jerseys typically pay homage to a team's history, the Kraken's relatively short history adds a unique twist to the situation.
Though the gesture to honor the Metropolitans is commendable, the Kraken may face trademark issues if they don't own the rights. Typically, jersey and logo changes go hand in hand with ownership shifts, but this case seems to be an exception.
As the Winter Classic approaches, the unfolding legal drama will be closely watched to see how the situation pans out.
