General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins Kyle Dubas may have a full summer ahead of him as his team tries to avoid missing the playoffs for the third straight year.

Before the 202425 season begins, the Penguins' goalie position is a little unclear. Although Tristan Jarry is now expected to start for the squad on opening night in October, is there a possibility he won't still be with the group on that day?
Teams around the National Hockey League are reportedly hearing that the Penguins have made Tristan Jarry available for trade, but it doesn't seem like they are actively shopping him right now, according to Rob Rossi of The Athletic.
Rossi added that the Penguins will likely hold onto Tristan Jarry is they are unable to add a top-six forward to play with Sidney Crosby or a top-four defenceman, or clear cap space.
"Goaltender Tristan Jarry is not necessarily being shopped by Dubas, but there is a sense among other teams that Jarry is available. While that doesn't mean Dubas or Sullivan has abandoned the idea that Jarry can become a No. 1 goalie, Jarry's inability to wrestle the crease from Alex Nedeljkovic late this past season did not win him many points with top brass, two team sources said."

"The Penguins will keep Jarry if they cannot find a deal that either directly or, by clearing cap space, indirectly addresses a need: a top-six forward (ideally a winger for Crosby) or a top-four defenseman." Rossi said in an article on The Athletic recently.
With 51 appearances in 51 games this season, Jarry, 29, has a 19-25-5 record, a 2.91 goals against average, a.903 save percentage, and six shutouts for the Penguins. With a $5.375 million cap hit, the Surrey, British Columbia native has four years left on his deal.
In the event that Jarry is traded by the Penguins this summer, Dubas will need to move swiftly to replace him. On July 1st, Alex Nedeljkovic will become an unrestricted free agent. In the minor leagues, the Penguins have Joel Blomqvist, Taylor Gauthier, and Filip Larsson, who aren't yet ready for a full-time NHL role.
Tristan Jarry will probably still be a Penguin by the following season.
