Matt Rempe Backs Out Of Fight With Senators Enforcer Boko Imama
New York Rangers rookie Matt Rempe, known for his gritty role on the ice, found himself at the center of attention in tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators. Despite building a reputation as a tough enforcer, Rempe chose not to engage in a fight with Senators' enforcer Boko Imama after a heated on-ice exchange.
The incident unfolded after Rempe delivered a clean hit on Senators forward Zach MacEwan. Rempe seemed to ease up just as MacEwan was turning toward the boards, which could have left him in a vulnerable position. Imama, taking issue with the hit, quickly confronted Rempe.
Boko Imama wanted to go with Matt Rempe but no dice 🫣
Typically quick to drop the gloves, Rempe instead opted to skate away while Imama prodded him with his stick, signaling a challenge. This doesn't necessarily mean Rempe is shying away from all physical confrontation tonight.
