Everyone makes mistakes, but what matters most is how you choose to make amends for the ones that truly hurt. The Dallas Stars' DJ made a grave mistake when he played "La Bamba" in celebration of the team's triumph over the Oilers in Game 2. The Oilers had selected the music following home victories, but the Stars DJ was unaware of this.

Longtime Oilers attendant Joey Moss helped make La Bamba Edmonton's victory song, and superfan Ben Stelterwho passed away from cancer two years agodid much more to popularize it.

Jonathan Shippy Shipman was not aware of the song's significance to the Oilers or the unique bond that Stelter had developed with captain Connor McDavid of the team before to his death.

The Dallas DJ apologized on social media for his grave mistake. Shipman admits that he attempts to make fun of the Stars' opponents. If he had been aware of the song's significance, he would never have performed it.

«I'm sorry, Oilers fans. If I knew what I know now about the significance of La Bamba to your franchise and fan base, I certainly would not have played it. I thought it was just a happy, fun win song. Thank you to all the Oilers fans who have been so understanding. Much love!»

In order to make up for his mistake, DJ Jonathan Shippy Shipman went above and beyond by making a donation to the Ben Stelter Foundation. He urged Stars supporters to follow suit, and they have already raised more than $10,000.

An elegant move on the DJ's part!

Wednesday night's Game 4 is set to take place in Edmonton's Rogers Place arena, with puck drop slated for 9:30 PM.
