Dallas Stars head coach Peter DeBoer sets a remarkable NHL record
On Sunday night, Peter DeBoer and his Dallas Stars clinched a thrilling victory over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 7, securing their spot in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. It was a huge win for the Stars, especially considering they were up against the formidable Vegas Golden Knights, who had bolstered their roster with players from long-term injured reserve.
The victory held particular significance for DeBoer himself. Going into Sunday's game, DeBoer had an incredible record in Game 7 scenarios, boasting a flawless 7-0 record. Only one other coach in NHL history, Darryl Sutter, had more Game 7 wins than DeBoer, with a record of 8-3.
DeBoer's victory in Game 7 not only tied Sutter's record but also marked a unique achievementhe remains the only coach to have reached this milestone while maintaining an undefeated record. It's a remarkable feat that's unlikely to be matched anytime soon.
Congratulations are certainly due to Peter DeBoer, who may very well surpass the record for most Game 7 wins before the Stanley Cup playoffs come to a close.
