Chicago Blackhawks Top Prospect Reveals He Isn't Happy And May Seek A Trade

A month back, the Chicago Blackhawks decided to send Lukas Reichel, their most promising prospect, down to the American Hockey League (AHL).

The demotion didn't sit well with Reichel, who was already grappling with a challenging season. His performance up to that point � three goals and 10 points in 50 games, alongside a disheartening -28 plus-minus rating � had been underwhelming, to say the least.

"At first, you're just mad and frustrated," Reichel admitted. His initial reaction was one of disappointment, but his mindset quickly shifted. "But then the next day I woke up and I said: 'I'm going to turn this around and try my best down there and help this team win.'"

True to his word, Reichel's stint with the Rockford IceHogs marked a turning point. His arrival sparked a seven-game winning streak for the IceHogs, with Reichel contributing significantly by tallying seven points in nine games and sporting a plus-4 rating.

Now back with the Blackhawks, Reichel is eager to reaffirm his status as a top-tier prospect. Despite his proven potential as a reliable two-way center in previous AHL seasons, this year has tested him.

Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson viewed the move as a necessary step for Reichel's growth, acknowledging the positive impact it has had.

"Just another way of trying to get things going, whether it be confidence, whether it be the play, getting more puck touches, just trying to get some positive momentum going," Davidson explained. "It's been a tough year for him, but he responded well."

Reichel's future with the Blackhawks, however, remains uncertain. With the team languishing near the league's bottom with 41 points at 18-44-five, his position is precarious. Should he face another demotion, Reichel might contemplate requesting a trade, seeking a fresh start elsewhere.
