The Carolina Hurricanes took a hit as veteran winger Jesper Fast is sidelined for the remainder of the postseason due to an injury sustained in the final game of the regular season against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Fast, who has been a reliable component of the Hurricanes' third line, suffered the injury during a hard fall into the boards.

Rod Brind'Amour didn't have much of an update on Jesper Fast, who had to be helped off the ice during the second period tonight, post-game -

"That's the part that just makes you sick, to be honest with you. You're just trying to get through the game without having that."

Elliotte Friedman as shared an unfortunate update today, that Fast won't be returning to the ice this playoff season. During the pre-game coverage on Bally's Sports, Hurricanes' head coach Rod Brind'Amour shared the unfortunate news.

During Carolina's pre-game show on Bally's, head coach Rod Brind'Amour indicated Jesper Fast appears to be out for the season.

He was more optimistic about the possibility of Brett Pesce returning.

Fast's absence will undoubtedly be felt. Known for his solid play alongside Jordan Staal and his important role on the penalty kill, losing him means the Hurricanes will have to look to others to step up defensively.

As the team pushes forward in the playoffs, replacing Fast's contributions will be a significant challenge.
