Carolina Hurricanes Enforcer Has Contract Extended Due To His Recent Fight
During the Carolina Hurricanes recent showdown against the Calgary Flames, Brendan Lemieux showcased his physical style by engaging in a fight with Flames defenseman Brayden Pachal.
Despite the brief bout, Lemieux quickly gained the upper hand, overwhelming his opponent with his aggressive approach.
Following this display of toughness, the Hurricanes announced on Monday that they had signed Lemieux to a contract extension, indicating their appreciation for his contributions to the team.
While it may be overstating it to attribute Lemieux's new contract solely to one fight, Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell hinted that his impressive performance over the weekend played a role in the decision.
"Brendan has brought an element of toughness to our lineup," admitted Waddell. "He understands his role with our club, and we're glad to keep him in Raleigh for another season."
