His Saginaw Spirit were taking on the Soo Greyhounds. Overall, the game was a physical one and Parekh took advantage in a way that was overzealous and downright dangerous. Below, you can see that a player was up against the boards in a compromising position. From there, Parekh rushed into the play and crushed the player's head.
Parekh was ejected for the move and rightfully so. However, it was then reported that Parekh allegedly tried to spear a fan as he was on his way to the locker room. This is not good and could come with some serious consequences, including a 10-game suspension.
Zachary L'Heureux once did something similar during a CHL game and ended up with 10 games for it, hence the recent speculation in regards to Parekh. Having said that, this should be a huge warning and a deterrent for Parekh if he ever thinks about doing something like that again. Only time will tell what kind of action the CHL decides to take against him.
Fans are supposed to be protected from the players. Having said that, the reverse should apply as well. Players need to be protected from crazy fans. In the future, we just need to see some kind of mutual respect from all sides. That is the only way this all works in harmony.
