The trial is set to occur privately, and Ronni has refrained from making any public statements regarding the matter, though he had previously expressed his intention to defend his innocence.

"The last two or so years have been hard waiting for the matter to progress. I trust that the related course of events will be clarified in connection with the trial."

The Calgary Flames have issued a statement addressing their prospect, acknowledging that they were made aware of the incident after drafting him. They emphasize their commitment to taking the matter seriously and allowing the legal process to unfold as necessary.
