Buffalo Sabres defenseman Bowen Byram is facing a fine from the NHL's Department of Player Safety following an incident during Wednesday night's game against the Ottawa Senators.

In a social media post on Thursday morning, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced that Byram has been fined $5,000 for interference on Senators forward Angus Crookshank.

«Buffalo's Bowen Byram has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for interference on Ottawa's Angus Crookshank.«

The incident occurred during the first period of Wednesday's game, with the Senators leading 4-0. As Crookshank passed the puck to Jakob Chychrun at the point, Byram made contact with Crookshank, who fell to the ice, landing on his shoulder.

Although Crookshank was shaken up by the hit, he managed to skate back to the bench on his own. Byram was penalized with a two-minute minor for interference and later received an additional penalty for slashing Mark Kastelic.
