Gary Bettman Faces Criticism From NHL Organizations For Favouring The Sabres
NHL teams might not be thrilled with Gary Bettman, who's allegedly granting special treatment to the Buffalo Sabres.
Bettman Faces Criticism for Favoring the Sabres
Today, the Sabres made headlines by activating Jeff Skinner and Jordan Greenway off the IR. This move pushes them beyond the NHL's 23-player limit, now boasting 24 active contracts.
According to Elliotte Friedman:
"Quirk in Christmas rules...Buffalo can roster 24 (one over the max) since they are under the cap. Makes some teams crazy, because they feel it gives an unfair advantage, but they are not required to make a loan/demotion during Holiday Freeze."
The NHL clarified that the Sabres are permitted to have one player over the limit due to the Christmas Break rules.
The Sabres have the flexibility to make a roster move after the break, a decision that some believe gives them an edge over other teams.
