Buffalo Sabres Star Prospect Traded In Massive Deal
As Team Canada regroups after a disappointing exit from the 2024 World Juniors, the aftermath includes notable trades for several players returning to their CHL clubs.
One player already on the move is Matthew Savoie, the top prospect for the Buffalo Sabres, who was previously with the Western Hockey League's Wenatchee Wild. Savoie is now part of the Moose Jaw Warriors following a significant trade involving seven draft picks, including two first-rounders in 2024 and 2027.
The Moose Jaw Warriors announced the blockbuster trade, stating,
«BLOCKBUSTER TIME. We've acquired 19-year-old forward Matthew Savoie from the Wenatchee Wild!»
A native of St. Albert, Alberta, Savoie showcased his skills in 11 WHL games for Wenatchee, amassing an impressive 24 points with 11 goals and 13 assists this season.
As the three CHL leagues approach their trade deadlines in the coming week, other Team Canada players, including Conor Geekie in the WHL and Owen Beck in the OHL, are expected to be part of the trade talks. Keep an eye on the CHL landscape as teams make strategic moves in the aftermath of the World Juniors.
